Tayenebe: Tasmanian Aboriginal Women's Fibre Work

March 30 to July 25 2010

National Museum of Australia. Lawson Cres. Acton Peninsula. ACT

'Tayenebe', a Tasmanian Aboriginal word meaning 'exchange', celebrates the revitalisation of Tasmanian Aboriginal weaving that has taken place over the past three years. Tayenebe includes beautiful baskets and kelp water carriers in contemporary and traditonal styles, along with a historic basket made around the 1800s which has never before been seen outside Tasmania.

Tayenebe is a Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery travelling exhibition supported by Visions Australia, an Australian Government Program.
